This Level 4 course is the top part of the Association of Accounting Technicians - AAT training programme and will improve your accountancy skills to a high level. On achievement of this course, you can apply to become a full member of the AATspecialised body. You can also increase on to higher-level professional accounting qualifications, and may be qualified for exemption from the foundation stage exams of all the UK chartered accounting bodies.

The Professional Diploma in accounting, also known as AAT Level 4, covers higher bookkeeping tasks required by a business team leader such as creating a financial statement, handling budgets and evaluating financial performance.

It is preferably suited for someone who completes the Level 3 Advanced Diploma, who is at a more advanced stage of their career in economics and who wants to back up their abilities with a recognised qualification.

Benefits

Units

To gain the Professional Diploma, you must complete three mandatory units, two optional units from a choice of 5 and pass the assessment. The synoptic assessment can be attempted after learning for the three necessary units has been accomplished.

Two of the following selection will also be enclosed - the choice will be built on learner demand, so not all of the selections will be available:

AAT Level 4: Syllabus

Financial Statements of Limited Companies - FSLC

Number of lessons: Session: On-Demand / study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer Based exam

You’ll study about drafting financial statements for a single association of limited companies. You will also improve the skills to understand the financial statements of limited companies.

Management Accounting: Decision and Control - MDCL

Number of lessons: Session: Flexible time for study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer Based exam

This unit will make you liaise with business directors to prepare basic or standard budget costs, control reports, create budgetary reports, and normal costing control reports. You’ll learn about theories like cost behaviour, standard costing, cost analysis, and contribution theory.

Business Tax - BSTX

Number of lessons: Session: 10 sessions OnDemand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll study about UK taxation related to businesses. You’ll learn how to treat adjust profits, capital expenditure, the complications of late payments, and ethically compute returns.

External Auditing - ETAU

Number of lessons: Session: 4 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll learn about external assessing of a financial statement, and know the importance of internal controls. You’ll be capable of conducting an external audit, comprising planning, and gathering sufficient and suitable evidence.

Credit Management - CDMT

Number of lessons: Session: 4 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll learn the principles to find solutions to breaches of contracts, and define terms and conditions with customers. You’ll be able to organise sources of information, learn about liquidity management, and assess credit risk, bankruptcies and ruins.

Cash and Treasury Management - CTRM

Number of lessons: Session: 4 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll learn how to classify how cash moves in a business to precisely prepare cash flow forecasts. You’ll increase the practical skills to identify ways to raise finance.

Personal Tax - PLTX

Number of lessons: Session: 4 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll learn about taxation that affects UK taxpayers - income tax, capital gains tax, national insurance & inheritance tax. You’ll also study about deductions, and how UK taxpayers can minimalise their tax legally.

Accounting Systems & Controls

Number of lessons: Session: 8 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based AAT Exams

You’ll establish your understanding by evaluating internal control systems within a business, and make endorsements, to minimise the risk of loss.

Management Accounting: Budgeting - MABU

Number of lessons: Session: 6 sessions On-Demand/ study at your own pace

Subject assessment: Computer-Based Exam

You’ll learn how to budget for business tasks, set targets and plans. You’ll support your skills in management bookkeeping, statistical analysis, written communication.

Who Is The Course For?

The course is for those who have finished the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and wish to further improve their skills, knowledge and profession in accountancy.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Some of these units are evaluated using computer-based directed methods which can include projects, reports and are marked by the experts. All computer-based assessments- CBA at Level 4 involve marking, and therefore, results for these will be obtained within six weeks from AAT.

Progression & Career Opportunities

You will be able to progress right into employment and self-employment. You will be able to deliberate positions within the government sector, banking sector or accounting practices.
