This is a level 2 course consisting of 4 modules – Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations and Improving Productivity using IT.
Word Processing teaches the learner how to create basic documents using Microsoft Word.
Learners are shown how to format text and paragraphs as well as inserting and formatting images.
Learners are taught how to align text and create bullet lists as well as setting up and carrying out a mail merge.
The spreadsheets module covers creating a basic spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel, moving and copying data and formatting the layout of a spreadsheet by changing column widths and row heights.
Learners are shown how to format text and display it as currency, date values or decimals.
Common formulas are covered to add, subtract, multiply and divide data in a spreadsheet as well as more advanced functions such as ‘IF’ formulas. Chart creation and formatting is also covered.
Presentations teach the learner how to create slideshows using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Learners are taught how to work with slides- adding backgrounds and design templates, adding text to slides and formatting text. Image insertion and formatting is covered along with drawing and formatting auto shapes.
Learners will learn how to print out their presentation in a number of ways – slides, outline, speaker notes etc.
Learners will learn about the use of the slide master as well as animation effects and slide transitions.
Improving Productivity using IT is a mandatory unit and is designed to put the learning into a work context.
The learner will learn how to plan and review the use of IT systems and software and find ways in which to enhance productivity.
All 4 modules exams must be passed in order to gain the qualification.
